One of the things doctors generally agree on is that youre less likely to get sick if you are in good health. There are two things that doctors say we should do to stay in good health. First, well talk about diet.
What do we always hear in the news media regarding health? We hear things like If we eat more (or less) of substance X well be less at risk for disease Y. Sometimes its red wine, other times its foods high in carbohydrates, yet other times its even absurd things like fatty foods or chocolate. Often, its something inside the substance that helps or hinders our health. In the case of red wine, some studies suggest that it contains antioxidants that help discourage heart disease. In fact, when people talk about chocolate being good for you, its also because of antioxidants.
What Does It All Mean?
Theres no way you can have your diet constantly changing to match some of the sometimes seemingly absurd health stories the news media reports on. However, talking to your doctor or a dietitian or nutritionist, can be a good start toward devising a generally sound diet. No diet is going to be perfect, but a well-rounded diet is possible.
Diet, alone, is not enough to keep you at your highest level of health. This is another thing doctors generally agree on. Exercise is something you should add to your lifestyle. Doctors generally say that proper diet and exercise are among the best preventative measures you can take to avoid disease and illness.
